Milngavie War Memorial

photo of memorial

The memorial was erected in 1922 in Douglas Gardens, previously the site of the village's gasworks. The female figure and panels are of bronze, and the pedestal is granite. The front panel contains the words:
Burgh of Milngavie and District.
In proud and loving memory of our men who made the supreme sacrifice in the Great War. Nobly they kept alight the lamps of liberty.

The surrounding gardens have now been paved over.
